Regulatory Affairs

The Department of Regulatory Affairs works with staff in every department to ensure Health Plus complies with city, state, and federal regulations and requirements.  The Department serves as a resource to other departments, by researching and interpreting regulatory requirements and assisting departments to respond to new and revised State requirements.  The Department coordinates preparation for the Plan’s bi-annual Article 44 Surveys by the State.  In addition, the Department provides planning and administrative support to the Executive Director.   As the Privacy Officer, the Director of Regulatory Affairs is responsible for development and implementation of policies and procedures required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).  The Privacy Officer investigates and acts upon member and employee complaints regarding improper use and disclosure of protected member information, and serves as a resource to staff on HIPAA.
