Bronx, NY - August 18, 2005 — Last week in the Bronx, Puerto Ricans and Latinos of all origins came out to show their pride and true spirit of bonding in the community, as they celebrated the Bronx Puerto Rican Parade. This parade, though smaller than the enormous parade launched each June on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, is a cherished tradition that has been held each summer for the past 17 years.

For many, the smaller, but by no means small, celebration brings together the perfect mix of spectacle and intimacy. The community gets together to dance in the streets, eat traditional foods, or just sit back and enjoy the music and the company of friends and loved ones.

“We are always proud to support a festivity that unites the community and produces goodwill and cheer,” says Health Plus’s CEO Tom Early.  “We’re proud to exhibit our commitment to the community by sponsoring cultural events like this.”

Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo, who was named “woman of the year” at the 17th annual Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade last week, stands along side Rolland Garcia of Health Plus and her daughter, Councilwoman Maria Del Carmen Arroyo.
