New York, NY - July 11, 2006 — One of the New York areas largest HMOs is moving into a new neighborhood.  Now located in the heart of Manhattan’s Chinatown, managed care organization Health Plus has found a new way to reach out to individuals in the Chinese community to offer free and affordable healthcare to children and adults -- and yesterday they celebrated the grand opening of their new office, located on 196 Canal Street.

Approximately 600 people, including excited children, were in attendance, delighted to be part of the Health Plus spectacular.  It was hard to miss the fireworks on the busiest street in Chinatown, especially when free balloons, DVD giveaways, food and refreshments, and the traditional Lion Dance were involved.

The grand opening ceremony, attended by local Chinese radio and newspaper media representatives, community leaders, Executive Director Tom Early, Chief Marketing Officer Ada Rodriguez, as well as numerous staff members of Health Plus, commenced at five o’clock in the afternoon with the sounds of drums and cheers echoing through the streets of Chinatown.  Members of the Wai Chin Min Association entertained guests with a variety of lion dances that left everyone in awe.

“Our main purpose here at the Canal Street office is to provide better quality healthcare and service to the community” says Tommy Cen, Manhattan Marketing Supervisor for Health Plus. “My staff is always willing to help with anything.  Sometimes we even get people that come up to us and ask us to translate documents for them.  Anything we can do to help the community, we’re more than happy to do so.  And we’re ecstatic to see our Executive Director, Tom Early, and Chief Marketing Officer, Ada Rodriguez, here today to celebrate the grand opening and to share in our commitment to the improvement of services in Chinatown.”

The new Canal Street office will operate seven days a week.  The hours of operation are 9 AM – 7PM from Monday thru Thursday and 9AM – 5PM from Friday thru Sunday.
