Bronx, NY - March 23, 2006 — “The Bronx is one of the boroughs with the highest uninsured populations in the City of New York,” Bronx Regional Marketing Manager of Health Plus George Sosa explained, at yesterday’s clergy breakfast in the Bronx, sponsored by the managed care organization. “And, incredibly,” he continued, “65% of the people residing in this borough who work full time are uninsured. Clearly, something needs to be done.”

As part of a mutual commitment to the wellbeing of Bronx residents, on a chilly March morning, Health Plus and The New York Police Department -- in a joint effort to reach out to uninsured residents of the Bronx – hosted the Patrol Borough Bronx Clergy Breakfast at the neighborhood eatery, Willie’s Steak House on Westchester Avenue. George Sosa was the morning’s featured speaker.

Over coffee, croissants, eggs, and other delectable breakfast entrees, community representatives from faith-based organizations and businesses listened intently as Mr. Sosa discussed the mission of Health Plus, its many community activities, and the company’s commitment to providing free and affordable healthcare to all children and adults who qualify for their state-sponsored plans.

In recognition of his work on behalf of the Bronx community, the NYPD awarded Mr. Sosa with a certificate of appreciation, praising Health Plus and its Regional Manager for the Bronx for their commitment to the health and wellbeing of residents of the borough.

The issue of healthcare coverage for the uninsured has become of increasing concern over the years, as the cost of medical treatment continues to rise.  Teaming up with the New York Police Department and various clergy members in the Bronx, Health Plus continues to strive to build a community where individuals are healthy and have access to free or affordable healthcare.
