Brooklyn, New York - July 31, 2008 — Yesterday, community leaders from across Brooklyn joined managed care organization Health Plus and Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, as they cut the ceremonial ribbon to celebrate the grand opening of the newest Health Plus satellite office, in Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The new location at 364 Knickerbocker Avenue joins the roster of Health Plus offices that already dot neighborhoods all throughout the five boroughs of New York, and will make it much easier for Health Plus staff to offer services to the people of Bushwick and the surrounding communities.

“All the money in the world, can’t buy you good health,” said Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, “which is why the work that Health Plus does, is so important. I would like to thank them for their commitment to Brooklyn and for all their hard work and dedication to not only preventing illness in our communities, but also raising awareness of how important proper healthcare is.”

“We’ve been working in this neighborhood for ten years,” said Tom Early, Executive Director of Health Plus, “but now, with the addition of this office, we can really call ourselves neighbors.  Now that we have a permanent home in Bushwick, we look forward to expanding our relationships with local community groups and organizations and, hopefully, build some new ones as well.”

Evelyn Cruz, Julio Coronel, Angel Rivera, Kathryn Soman, Marty Markowitz, Tom Early, Ada Rodriguez, and Rev. Don Stiger, stand together, as the Borough President snips the ceremonial ribbon during the grand opening of the newest Health Plus office.
