National Health Center Week Celebrated Throughout Brooklyn

Brooklyn, New York - August 20, 2008 — Last week, managed care organization Health Plus and partner, Lutheran Medical Center, teamed up at various Lutheran Family Health Centers in Brooklyn to provide free screenings to the public in recognition of “National Health Center Week.” No appointments were necessary, as LMC staff showed local residents just how easy it is to get attentive medical care in their own neighborhood.

Physicians at local facilities offered free medical exams such as dental, blood pressure, and cholesterol screenings, as well as prenatal and diabetic care. Staff members from Health Plus were also present at all centers, passing out delicious treats and raffling off prizes, as well as explaining the free and affordable healthcare services available through the Brooklyn-based company.

“We take a lot of pride in our relationship with Lutheran Medical Center,” said Tom Early, Executive Director for Health Plus, “especially with their Family Health Centers, which often serve as our access point for working directly with the community. This annual event is a great opportunity, not only for LMC, but for us, as well, to demonstrate to the public just how important proper healthcare is.”
