Health Plus Regional Marketing Manager David Medina made the opening remarks and introduced the rest of the speakers, which included Health Plus’s Health Educators Wendy Dominguez and Irene N’Kanza, who both spoke passionately about the dangers, impact, and tell-tale signs of Domestic Violence, as well as what people can do, both as part of community groups and as individuals, to help prevent and eliminate any future and further violence.
Other speakers for the day included April D. Horton of the Verizon Foundation; Yolanda Jimenez, Commissioner from the Mayor’s Office to combat Domestic Violence; Maureen Curtis, of Safe Horizons; and Lenny Caro, CEO of the Bronx Chamber of Commerce.
“Domestic Violence is a problem that affects us as a community and as a society,” said Tom Early, Executive Director of Health Plus. “I know that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and I am very proud that my company is in the position to help spread information and to partner with some important organizations, and, hopefully, save some lives.”
