Eight-time Olympic gold medal winner and holder of more Olympic medals than any other U.S. female swimmer, Jenny Thompson, participated in the ceremonies. Ada Rodriguez, Director of Marketing for Health Plus, was recognized for her company's support of The New York City Parks & Recreation department's Learn To Swim program.
"A major goal of Parks Citywide Aquatics Division is to develop physical fitness in youths by participating in our competitive swim training program and competition," said John Hutchins, Director of Citywide Aquatics. "Also, the program gives youths an opportunity to set individual and team goals, achieve them, and feel good about themselves, which increases self esteem and develops positive individual character."
