New York, NY - November 18, 2003 — Comite Noviembre, a not-for-profit group promoting the awareness of social, cultural, economic, and political contributions of the Puerto Rican community of this nation, celebrated seventeen years of observing Puerto Rican heritage month with the help of sponsors, including Health Plus, the Medicaid managed care organization, at this year's Annual Benefit in Manhattan.
 
Danny Rivera, renowned singer and humanitarian, was honored at the event for representing the organization as this year's spokesperson. Past spokespersons include Tito Puente, Rosie Perez, and Admiral Richard H. Carmona, MD, MPH, FACS, US Surgeon General Commander, USPHS.
